We are looking for a Chair of our Board of Trustees.

The Chair of Trustees is a key role in our organisation.
Your leadership and commitment will ensure we continue to provide and extend
our range of activities maximising our impact and broadening our reach.
Please note that we would be looking for someone to become a trustee for 6 month prior to stepping up to take over as the Chair of Trustees.
Summary of the role:
Provides leadership and direction to the board of Trustees
and enables the Board to fulfill their responsibilities for the overall
governance and strategic direction of the charity.
Ensures that the charity pursues its objects as defined in
its governing document, charity law, and other relevant
Works in partnership with the chief executive and supports
employees and volunteers, helping them achieve the aims of the charity.
Facilitates the board of trustees in stimulating carefully
considered strategic decision-making.
What skills do I need?
What are we looking for?
Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties,
responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship and adhering to Nolan’s seven
principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity,
accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
Commitment to the charity’s objects, aims and values and
willingness to devote time to carry out responsibilities.
Strategic and forward looking vision in relation to the charity’s
objects and aims.
Good, independent judgement, political impartiality and the
ability to think creatively in the context of the organisation and external
Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability
to respect the confidences of colleagues.
Balancing tact and diplomacy with willingness to challenge
and constructively criticise.
Prior experience of committee/trustee work.
Knowledge of the type of work undertaken by the charity.
A wider involvement with the voluntary sector.
Experience of chairing meetings, committee work, some
experience of charity finance and fundraising.
We will need a CV and will want to interview suitable
candidates - possibly by Zoom.
This role has a good deal of flexibility, but you will need to attend the Charity trustee meetings once a quarter. These can be attended using Zoom or covid allowing in person. More details on application.
