Would you like to support the Covid19 vaccination initiative for the Horsham District? If so, then this role is for you!

The Christ Hospital Vaccination Centre will be reopening again to deliver the Covid Booster jabs and Winter Flu vaccines.

We are looking for people to join our established and friendly team of volunteers , to help ensure that anyone arriving at the Christ Hospital Vaccination Centre site for their Covid19 vaccination has a positive and welcoming experience.  All our volunteers are based outside of the vaccination centre, (held within the Bluecoats Sport Centre) and are involved in managing all external operations.

Please note that we are particularly in need for volunteers to help on Saturday mornings.

Tasks will include:

  • helping with the flow of vehicles on and off the site, 
  • car park marshalling and traffic control,
  • keeping the rest of the team informed of car park spaces and any vehicle congestion affecting the site.
  • meeting and greeting people arriving, ensuring they know where to go and what to expect,
  • helping anyone needing mobility assistance
  • keeping wheelchairs clean and ready to use for anyone arriving with high mobility needs
  • ensuring social distancing is adhered to and those arriving are wearing a facemask
  • keeping morale up and queues moving (especially when in cold or wet weather)


We are looking for people who can make themselves regularly available to commit to attending at least one shift per week wherever possible. Clinics run on Fridays and Saturdays. Often these run all day but can be shorter. However they are organised as 2 shifts, on a 6 hour basis - morning's run from 8am-2:30 and afternoon shifts from 13:30-20:00.

At the moment we expect the vaccination clinic to run on Fridays and Saturdays from Fri 1 October until the end of December, when it will be reviewed.

What we provide:

  • Regular comfort breaks and tea/coffee and treats are brought around to you
  • A high viz and radio where required

 What you need to provide:

  • You will need to be able to stand and work outside in all weather conditions for several hours at a time.  Please note that shifts are organised on a 6 hour basis - morning's 8am-2:30 and afternoon's 13:30-20:00
  • You will need to be able to travel to and from the vaccination centre by yourself.
  • You will need to provide your own suitable warm and weatherproof clothing.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people who 

  • are physically fit and able to stand and willing to move around the site and car parks as required to manage the changing external logistics
  • are outgoing, personable and have a friendly personality
  • enjoy engaging with and helping people of all ages and backgrounds
  • like being part of a team 
  • have a flexible and adaptable attitude to help meet needs as situation changes on site
  • are 18 or over.

Experience of dealing with the general public is of benefit.

We do not require a DBS check for this role

Availability Details
