Who Are We?

Based in the heart of Henfield and part of the Adur Valley Scout District, we are one of the largest and most active Scout Groups in Sussex; every week over 120 young people aged 6-18 from Henfield and the surrounding area join us to experience everyday adventure and take part in our top quality Scouting programme.

The Role

We are looking for someone to join the team as a Cub Scout Leader. Cubs are children aged 8 - 10.

The role of Cub Scout Leader has the following responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the operation of the section. In particular, the planning and delivery of the exciting and stimulating Balanced Programme, with the help of Assistant Section Leaders, Section Assistants, Young Leaders and members of Scout Active Support as appropriate.
  • Ensure that every young person in the section has the opportunity to attend at least one nights' away experience each year.
  • Actively support and promote the achievement of badges and awards in particular the Chief Scouts’ Award.
  • Actively work with other adults in the group to support and promote group or multi-section activities and events.

The Cubs meet once a week on Tuesday evenings (6:30pm - 8:00pm).

What skills do I need?

Cub Scout Leaders help children and young adults reach their full potential.

Our members gain valuable skills for life including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness, and commitment.

Please note that you will need to be willing to undergo a DBS check for the role.
