Who Are We?

At the 12th Horsham Scouts we offer fun, challenge and everyday adventure to the young people within our Beaver Colony, our Cub Pack and our Scout Troop. Our aim is to help our members all aged between 6 and 25 years to grow in confidence, achieve their full potential and become active members of our wonderful community.

We rely on volunteers to offer an exciting programme of activities and would love to hear from you if you once enjoyed the benefits of scouting; wished you had these opportunities or now appreciate what scouting is offering a child in your family or circle of friends - everyone has something good to offer when it comes to Scouting so please do get in contact to find out more about our vacancies or to tell us about skills that you would like to share. We will make sure that you too can join in the fun!

The Roles:

Adult Volunteers can chose to help and lead activities for our any of sections – either as an Occasional Volunteer, an Assistant Team Leader, Team Leader (there are LOTS of options!).

As part of the Leadership Team, you will assist in planning and delivery of an exciting, interesting and balanced programme for our Young People, which will help give them the opportunity to have fun and learn new skills while taking part in many different types of activities.

These may include adventures, challenges, trips, visits and possibly even the occasional weekend camp.

Providing 'skills for life’ is what we do!

The different age groups are:

  • Cubs, aged 8 - 10.5 years old - Tuesdays 6.45 - 8.00pm
  • Scouts, aged 10.5 - 14 years old - Wednesdays 7.00pm - 9.00pm
  • Beavers, aged 6 - 8 years old - Thursdays 6.15 - 7.15pm

What do I get for volunteering?

Volunteering looks great on your CV and a recent impact report told us that 80% of external organisations said that Scouting has benefited their organisation.

Volunteering is both fun and rewarding, allowing you to feel empowered and giving you a sense of pride. Scouting aims to have a real and positive impact on the lives of our young people, our volunteers and our local community.

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

Adults volunteers must be aged 18 or older.

Young people aged 14 to 18 can still help us by volunteering as a Young Leader. All young leaders must be members of a Young Leaders Explorer Scout unit, and be supported by an Explorer Scout Leader.

What skills do I need?

No Experience is required, just a lot of enthusiasm, energy, ideas for creative activity and a willingness to try anything is all that is required!
