For The Phoenix Stroke Club
We are looking for volunteers who would like to join our Phoenix Stroke Club team and help us to bring a difference to other people’s lives.
The Phoenix Stroke Club is a weekly club in Horsham for people who have either had a stroke or have a neurological condition. The club provides support to members by offering a range of stimulating activities that aim to restore confidence, improve communication and mobility.
In addition, we have a Communication Support Group one morning a week, supporting those whose language and/or communication skills have been affected by a stroke.
Volunteer’s responsibilities:
• chatting and providing companionship
• running quizzes and games
• assisting our members in learning new skills & hobbies and encouraging them to continue existing ones, where possible
• serving drinks
• helping with the general running of the club day
You will not be asked to provide any personal care; we employ carers to assist members if required.
We would appreciate any time you can commit. Even 2 hours per week will help us to improve the service.
We also have opportunities available for people with specific skills or knowledge who could provide an occasional talk or entertainment. You are welcome to come for a taster session to see the place and meet members and other volunteers.
