Who Are We?

1st Rudgwick Scout Group is a thriving, large Group providing skills for life to over 130 young people in the local area. We offer a full Scouting journey, from our youngest Squirrels (age 4) right through to Explorer Scouts (age 18), delivering a wide-ranging, exciting programme of activities.

The Role

As our Buildings Coordinator, you will join the Trustee Board to oversee the "health" of our Scout Hut. While our Quartermaster looks after the camping kit, you’ll be the person ensuring the building itself is up to standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Oversight: Ensuring essential annual checks (Gas Safety, PAT testing, Fire Extinguishers) are booked and completed.
  • Safety Records: Keeping the building’s Risk Assessment up to date and ensuring any identified actions are tracked.
  • Hut Diary Management: Overseeing hall bookings to ensure a smooth schedule for our sections and any external hirers.
  • Trustee Liaison: Providing brief updates to the Trustee Board so we stay "up to code."

What skills do I need?

This role is ideal for a parent, former Scout, or local resident who is proactive and enjoys ticking off a "to-do" list.

If you are comfortable managing a diary and keeping track of certificates, you’re exactly who we need.

You won’t be expected to fix the boiler yourself—just to ensure the right person is called to do it!
