The Friends of Chesworth Farm are a long standing group of people who care about Chesworth Farm countryside site, which has recently obtained Local Wildlife Site status. The group help support its conservation and management, as well as organising family and educational events on the site to engage with the wider community .

We are looking for  a dynamic individual to take over as Chair of the Group, to lead the committee, and its members to enable it to fulfil its purpose.

As chair you will...

• Ensure efficient running of projects and actions to achieve agreed goals in line with the Friends of Groups core values

• Act as a primary spokesperson for the Friends to Group, to external bodies, such as Horsham Green Spaces Forum but particularly with HDC/Parks & Countryside management 

• Supervise meetings and maintain effective management of all committee matters (delegating to Honorary Secretary or other committee members as appropriate)

• Chairs the AGM and any EGMs

• Prepares Chairman’s report for AGM

• Keep in regular contact with the HDC warden for the site

What skills do I need?

We are looking for a dynamic and outgoing individual who values Chesworth Farm and would like to head up the Friends group to enable Chesworth Farm, the local community and users of the site enhance and support its care and conservation in the future. The Friends of Group work closely with HDC who manage the site .

We are looking for someone with the following qualities and skills.

  • Approachable, friendly and dynamic 
  • A good communicator
  • Reliable, consistent  and and with time and passion to commit to the role, .
  • Management and leadership skills, pertaining to the voluntary sector.
  • Confident at public speaking
