The Community Minibus Association has been active in rural West Sussex for over 40 years and offers a much valued door to door minibus service to those unable to access public transport. As well as enabling access to essential service it provides an important social network to it\'s users through trips to supermarkets, garden centres, seaside resorts, lunches, day trips, theatre trips, etc. via its fleet of 11 minibuses.

The Charity is entirely dependant upon volunteers like you.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen for an energetic and enthusiastic volunteer who lives within West Sussex to take on the role of Honorary General Secretary for the Charity.

As a member of the Board of Trustees the Honorary General Secretary shares collective responsibility for governance of the Charity. Specific duties include:

  • Playing a role in various strategic projects
  • Being alert to statutory and regulatory changes pertinent to the Charity and if required agreeing action to ensure compliance
  • Organisation and administration of Trustee and Management Board Meetings
  • Compilation and production of the Annual Report
  • Custodianship of policies and procedures, updating as required
  • Recruitment of volunteers
  • Establishing and maintaining membership of professional bodies

What skills do I need?

The ideal volunteer will have a senior commercial or voluntary sector management experience and a broad knowledge of organisational functions; finance, marketing, IT, sales and HR.

In addition we are looking for:

Other than attendance at scheduled meetings you are free to establish a working pattern that suits your circumstances. Between 3 - 7 hours a week are usually needed.
