Who Are We?

Amberley Museum brings to life the industrial and transport heritage of Sussex and allows you to explore exhibits, dating back to the 19th century.

The Role

We are recruiting for new volunteers to join us in a range of roles across the Museum, from roles requiring specialised skills to our 'Amberley Welcome Team' and many others. Current roles include, bus drivers & maintenance; bus restoration; traditional crafts; events team; grounds & gardening; rail groups, welcome team.

Volunteers can help us at Amberley Museum any day of the week.

We are open to visitors Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 10.00am to 4.30pm until 29 October. (We are also open to visitors Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays through our winter season.) But even when we are closed to visitors, our dedicated team of volunteers maintain the site, as well as the huge variety of historic collections we hold.

If you are interested, please go to our website for more information https://www.amberleymuseum.co.uk/join-and-support/volunteer/, contact us directly at volunteer@amberleymuseum.co.uk, or make an enquiry via this website.

What skills do I need?

Skills will differ depending on what volunteering role you do at the museum.

Anyone 16 years and older can apply to become a volunteer. Due to the supervision legally required to comply with Health & Safety and Safeguarding requirements for people under school leaving age, we are not able to offer routine volunteering roles to younger people, except for formal work experience placements or specifically organised events. We aim to be as inclusive as possible and support all our volunteers appropriately.
