The Ready and Able Club is an inclusive sports club for disabled adults and our aim is to give people the opportunity to socialise, have fun and play sport. The club has run on a on a weekly basis for almost 30 years and takes place at Bluecoat Sports Centre at Christ's Hospital School on a Monday evening.

The members get the opportunity to socialise and play a variety of different sports/games in the sports hall between 6.15-7.15pm and include tennis, badminton, football, trampolining, boccia and new age kurling. They also have the opportunity to go swimming between 7.30-8pm.

We are looking for someone who is available to attend consistently and work with the staff and volunteers we already have to support the members.

Responsibilities include:

  • Help set up and pack away the equipment
  • Support members by talking to them and help engage some of them in the games/sports being played
  • Sometimes some of them may just appreciate a chat which is absolutely fine
  • Join in and play some of the games/sports with the members
  • Help ensure everyone is safe and has FUN including yourself

What skills do I need?

We welcome people whatever your skill-set. If you have experience in working with disabled adults that’s great, but if not it is not an issue as long as you are willing to be open-minded and willing to learn. We need someone who is reliable and can attend most weeks as continuity is important in this area of work.
