Who Are We?

Springboard is a charity founded by a group of parent carers in September 1992 after they saw a lack of provision and opportunity for their children with special educational needs and disabilities during school holidays. Since then, the charity has expanded throughout Horsham, Crawley, and Worthing, delivering activities for children and young people aged 0-30 years with disabilities, achieving such notable awards as the Queens Award for Volunteering.

We aim to promote inclusion and diversity, improve physical and emotional wellbeing, increase life skills and independence, reduce isolation by helping to build relationships and friendships and provide accessible recreational and leisure opportunities.

The Role

Do you enjoy spending time with young people and adults with SEND? Do you enjoy talking to people and getting involved in activities? Do you have any talents or special interests you could share with the young people such as sewing, knitting, crafting, Dungeons and Dragons, Chess, musical instruments, circus tricks, card games?

As a Stepping Stones volunteer, you will support the team to provide a fun, social, safe environment for young adults to hang out, make friends, explore and share their interests. The aim is for the sessions to be facilitated by us but led by the young adults. These will happen in our youth room at Springboard House, Horsham or in the community at a coffee shop. This is a great opportunity to gain and further develop your skills and experience in a SEND setting or simply to spend your time doing something fun, creative and heartwarming.

What skills do I need?

You will need to be kind, caring, patient and compassionate with a genuine interest in supporting our young people to be as independent and sociable as possible.
