Who Are We?

Huxley's Bird of Prey Centre, Horsham, is home to over 80 stunning birds of prey (many of who are endangered in the wild), an adorable family of meerkats, a pair of prickly porcupines and some very talkative parrots. Run almost exclusively by volunteers, we were awarded Tripadvisor's Travellers' Choice award 2025 - placing us in the top 10% of visitor attractions worldwide, according to our reviews on Tripadvisor.

The Role

We’re looking to expand our amazing team of volunteers here at Huxley’s!

If you are 16+, can reliably spare one day a week or more (Wednesday to Sunday) and you’re comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather, we’d really like to hear from you. We provide full health and safety training, and there are always hot drinks available to keep you going!

We are looking to train up new volunteers in bird care, handling and management. This opportunity is available to volunteers who can show a weekly commitment to the day to day aspects of the role, which include grounds and aviary maintenance, food preparation, working with the public, and general day-to-day maintenance work in the centre.

Volunteers who can demonstrate this will be taught, over time, how to care for and handle our birds of prey and other exotic animals.

You will be working with a friendly, supportive team of volunteers, learn how to handle and fly some amazing birds and be making a real difference to our charity.
