Who Are We?

We’re a local charity with a big ambition: to help everyone face death informed, supported and pain free. Providing expert hospice care, we’re there for people in West Sussex and East Surrey when life comes full circle. We also pioneer standards in end of life care through collaboration, research and training, reaching even more people facing death and bereavement.

The Role

Our e-Commerce team are responsible for an Aladdin's cave of unique, antique and collectable items. Being more specialist, and hopefully higher value, all items need researching, listing, packing, and labelling to make sure we're always getting the highest price possible. This is a fantastic, varied role with a particular focus on our vintage clothing selling platforms. It will help us to raise vital funds for our expert care, so you'll know you're making a direct difference to the patients and families that we support.

Role responsibilities:

  • Researching vintage, designer and quirky clothing and accessories to find out their age and re-sale value.
  • Taking photos of clothing to present attractively for re-sale.
  • Creating engaging descriptions of items to advertise on e-commerce channels such at Depop and Etsy.
  • Packing up parcels to send out to customers.
  • Ensuring the e-Commerce area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Discuss any queries, problems or observations with your manager.
  • Adhere to our Volunteering Code of Conduct at all times.
  • Attend relevant meetings & undertake all training required.
  • Act as an ambassador for St Catherine's at all times.

What you gain from this opportunity:

  • Satisfaction of helping St Catherine's Hospice to support local people and their loved ones when it's needed most.
  • Full training and support throughout your role.
  • Travel expenses reimbursed.
  • Chance to boost your CV, including a reference.
  • Supporting our expert team.
  • Long service and annual recognition awards.

Training Provided:

Completion of our induction training booklet along with an IT induction and biannual refresher training as part of our volunteering safely requirements. We also offer extra training courses to support your personal development.

What skills do I need?

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum age of 16 (parent/guardian consent and a child employment permit may be required).
  • An interest in fashion and an idea about current trends.
  • Good computer and IT skills.
  • Confident to use photographic equipment.
  • Good communication skills, including being able to write engaging descriptions on our e-commerce channels.
  • Being sociable, friendly and courteous in all you do.
  • A methodical approach, with good attention to detail.
  • Commitment to undertake training as necessary for the role.
  • Ability to support as part of a team.
  • Able to give one shift a week.
