For Friends of Horsham Park
Who Are We?
The Friends of Horsham Park aim to protect, enhance and promote Horsham Park for the better enjoyment of residents, visitors and future generations. We also aim to make this much loved green space an area in which birds, wildlife and trees flourish. We support the Charter for Parks.
The Role:
Wednesday mornings 9.30am - 12.30pm.
In early 2019, Friends of Horsham Park set up a weekly volunteer group for gardening and conservation activities. This is now a very enthusiastic and friendly group which works in partnership with Horsham District Council’s Parks and Countryside team and is supported by Denne Neighbourhood Council. We aim to bring more colour (subtle not garish!) to Horsham Park and create habitats to encourage wildlife.
Volunteers weed, prune, cut back and divide plants in the borders and introduce new plants or bulbs where needed.
Conservation projects involve creating better habitats for wildlife and include clearing scrub / overgrowth to replant areas with bird friendly plants for example in the Pond area.
Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary – it is a great opportunity to learn from the Park’s horticultural experts and make some new friends.
Tools will be provided but please wear clothes suitable for gardening and thick-soled shoes or boots.
