For Horsham Museum
Volunteer gardeners carry out the practical work to help keep the museum garden in peak condition and looking eye catching for our visitors.
Our team meet on a Monday each week, using appliances and tools provided to work through a general programme that ensures that the Museum’s public gardens are maintained and safe.
This includes weeding, pruning and trimming, deadheading, watering, sweeping.
There may also be opportunity to be involved in planting out, and seed cultivation.
Enthusiasm and a keen interest in gardening is essential, along with some relevant skills and practical experience either through work, or from your own garden.
While a qualification is not necessary, we welcome applicants with RHS level 2 certificates in horticulture or similar.
You should have a methodical approach to tasks, good attention to detail and be physically fit, as some manual lifting is required.
Generally, our volunteers meet in a group on a Monday. In time, once new volunteers are comfortable with the role, there is potential to work on alternative days.
