Who Are We?
Huxley's Bird of Prey Centre, Horsham, is home to over 80 stunning birds of prey (many of who are endangered in the wild), an adorable family of meerkats, a pair of prickly porcupines and some very talkative parrots. Run almost exclusively by volunteers, we were awarded Tripadvisor's Travellers' Choice award 2025 - placing us in the top 10% of visitor attractions worldwide, according to our reviews on Tripadvisor.
The Role
We’re looking to expand our amazing team of volunteers here at Huxley’s!
If you are 16+, can spare one day a fortnight or more (Wednesday to Sunday) and you’re comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather, we’d really like to hear from you. We provide full health and safety training, and there are always hot drinks available to keep you going!
We’re especially looking for reliable volunteers who enjoy practical work, such as gardening, grounds maintenance, and helping with aviary repairs - all of which make a huge difference to the day‑to‑day running of the centre.
In return, you will be working with a friendly, supportive team of volunteers, see some amazing birds and exotic animals every day and be making a real difference to our charity.
Opportunities are available to learn how to care for and handle the birds, for volunteers who demonstrate commitment to the role.
