Who Are We?

Radio Crawsham CIC is a local radio service dedicated to serving the communities of Crawley and Horsham. We deliver relevant, engaging, and inclusive broadcasting designed to reflect the people, places, culture, and voices of our area — because we believe truly local radio still matters.

The Role

Radio Crawsham is looking for confident, engaging and reliable volunteer presenters to join our weekday daytime schedule.

We currently have opportunities across breakfast, mid-morning and potentially drivetime, although we are willing to adjust the schedule to accommodate the right presenter.

Radio Crawsham is an upbeat community radio station serving Crawley, Horsham and the surrounding area. Our music format is Hot AC, combining current Top 40 music with popular classic hits from the 1990s onwards.

As we do not yet have permanent studio premises, this is currently a remote role. Presenters will need their own suitable home broadcasting equipment, a reliable internet connection and access to a radio playout system such as RadioDJ, PlayIt Live or PlayoutONE. We can advise on free playout options where required.

We will supply station jingles, advertising content and other essential audio. We can also provide music, although presenters who already have a suitable broadcast music library are welcome to use it within the station format.

Main responsibilities

The role may include:

  • Presenting an entertaining and professional weekday daytime radio show
  • Playing music that fits Radio Crawsham’s Hot AC format
  • Using station jingles, adverts and promotional material correctly
  • Preparing engaging links, features and local content
  • Sharing relevant information about Crawley, Horsham and the surrounding area
  • Recording or conducting interviews remotely
  • Broadcasting interviews live or incorporating recorded interviews into the programme
  • Interacting positively with listeners and representing the station professionally
  • Following station guidelines, programme clocks and broadcasting standards

Future opportunities

Radio Crawsham’s long-term ambition is to establish a local media centre and permanent broadcasting facilities. Presenters joining us remotely now may therefore have the opportunity to broadcast from our studios in person once suitable premises are secured.

What you will gain

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Present a regular programme on a growing community radio station
  • Develop your broadcasting, production and interviewing skills
  • Build your radio experience and demo material
  • Connect with local organisations, guests and community groups
  • Become part of a friendly and ambitious volunteer team
  • Help shape the future sound of Radio Crawsham
  • Receive a reference after a suitable period of volunteering

This is an unpaid voluntary position.

To apply, please send us a short introduction outlining your radio experience, preferred show time, availability, equipment and playout system. Please also include a recent presenter demo or link to an example of your work.

What skills do I need?

We are ideally looking for someone who:

  • Has previous radio presenting or broadcasting experience
  • Has their own microphone, computer and suitable home broadcast setup Is confident using radio playout software
  • Has an engaging, upbeat and natural presenting style
  • Understands how to structure a daytime music radio show
  • Has good knowledge of Crawley, Horsham and the local area
  • Can prepare entertaining and relevant local content
  • Is comfortable interviewing guests remotely
  • Is reliable, organised and able to meet agreed broadcast times
  • Can work independently while also being part of the wider station team

Experience is preferred, but we are also happy to hear from talented presenters who have a strong demo and the right equipment, attitude and commitment.
